"Fresh Reading" project started on August 18, 2017 in Lviv. Within two weeks, the creative team of Sergiy Talochko and SashKo and Darina Balabai took 58 photos of portraits of Lviv librarians in five central libraries, captured video material, and prepared an exhibition dedicated to the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries.
Photos were taken by Serhiy Talochko - a famous Ukrainian photographer, portrait expert, author of the world's largest photo project "Good Photos Lviv". The author and curator of the project - Sashko Balabai - Ukrainian documentary filmmaker.
The purpose of the project is to promote healthy lifestyles, read interesting and fresh books and healthy food. The photos are great librarians with fresh and bright fruits and vegetables and, of course, with a book or with book shelves. Also, the Fresh Reading Photo Project is a clear opportunity to break the stereotypes associated with libraries and librarians, to support library facilities and to show that they are contemporary, creative and innovative.
The opening of the Fresh Read project took place on September 13, 2017 within the framework of the Publishers Forum at one of the main locations - the Scientific Library of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
After the exhibition, the authors of the project organized a charity auction, photographs of librarians were purchased by philanthropists, and for these funds children's books were purchased at the educational department of OHMATDIT Hospital in Lviv.
